Characters of Note
Akariel,
Siren Prince of Slaanesh
211 Daemon Prince – Mark of Slaanesh, Sorcerer, Daemonic Stature, Daemonic
Mutation, Daemonic Resilience, Daemonic Speed, Slaaneshi Minor Psychic Powers
x4, Dread Axe, Doom Siren, CCW
Akariel was, in his mortality, Lord Commander Acarius, and was loyal to
Fulgrim’s call for perfection. As such, he was one of the first to turn against
the Imperium after Fulgrim spoke with Horus and heard the whisper of Slaanesh.
Dedicated to the dispensing of Slaanesh’s pleasure, Akariel ordered that most of
the weapons under his command be upgraded to sonic weaponry. The Lord wanted to
make sure that the screams of the enemy were worthy of Slaanesh, and decided
that the only way they would be is if he could hear them over their own guns.
After his rise to Daemon Princedom, Slaanesh gifted Akariel with an
ever-changing visage. To his enemies, he will always appear as someone they care
about or respect, and will die thinking that they were betrayed by those they
trusted. Akariel’s dedication to pleasure and pain keeps him high in Slaanesh’s
regard, and makes him an icon of perfection to the great companies under his
command.
Asenathor, the Flesh Crafter, Ascending Prince
201 Sorcerer Lord – Mark of Slaanesh, Gift of Chaos, Daemonic Armour, Daemonic
Mutation, Daemonic Strength, Daemonic Speed, Power Weapon, CCW, Personal Icon,
Infiltrate
Asenathor is known to charge forward of his army for the pleasure of practicing
his art before any of his subordinates can ruin his canvas. He especially enjoys
twisting the flesh and bones of whoever is in his reach. His favorite sport is
to latch his claws into his target’s face, gift him with visions of Slaanesh and
the warp-spawned paradise that Asenathor dreams of building, and exploding the
hapless individual with such power that he no longer resembles his previous
form, but rather a mass of flesh, claws, and muscle whose only desire is to kill
in the name of his new master. His viciousness at causing such pain in others
for art is helping him ascend in Slaanesh’s favor and as such, is no longer
fully mortal. He stands out on a battlefield as towering over the marines he
commands, but still shows proper respect to his master, Akariel, Scion of
Pleasure. Before the heresy, Asenathor was one of Akariel’s most trusted
captains, and a psyker of some renown. However, he preferred getting into combat
with a sword, rather than stand away and assault them mentally. Asenathor is
gifted with a speed that belies his bulky mass, and a grace that rivals that of
the Eldar. Often, he will never be noticed by the enemy until it is far too late
for them.
Lord Dresden, Prince of Pleasure
186 Chaos Lord – Mark of Slaanesh, Doom Siren, Lash of Torment, CCW, Combat
Drugs, Daemonic Mutation, Daemonic Strength, Daemonic Resilience, Daemonic
Visage, Furious Charge
Dresden was a Lieutenant under Akariel’s command when Fulgrim still walked. He
was known to decorate his scars with brightly polished rings so as to intimidate
the enemy when they saw him approach. After the awakening of the Legion, Dresden
took the opportunity to begin capturing slaves to awaken them to the gifts of
Slaanesh. His dominance over his company is absolute, and they love and respect
his strength, grace, and dedication to pleasure. Dresden sees himself a
liberator of worlds, freeing each one from the bonds of a corrupt elite caste of
Imperial Lords, and giving them the freedom of experiencing pleasure and pain
for themselves. Known to keep a cadre of Daemonettes as his personal entourage
onboard his battle cruiser, he decorates the halls of his officers’ quarters
with slaves captured and subsequently gifted with Slaanesh’s painful glory.
Dresden, however, does not take pleasure in the killing of others. He sees it as
a means to an end, but would just as happily take his enemies alive to toy with
at his leisure. It is written that when an Imperial Governor was being led
towards Dresden, he asked why the Chaos Lord had not killed him. Dresden pulled
out his Piercing Needle and simply shrugged with the response, “Everyone needs a
hobby.”
Captain Rathe, Lord of Speed
118 Chaos Lieutenant – Mark of Slaanesh, Bike, Power Weapon, Daemonic Strength,
Daemonic Visage, Sonic Blaster, Frag Grenades
Rathe has his own definition of pleasure. He is a simple man who enjoys a
combination of speed and death. He prefers his enemies to be afraid of the end,
and knows that they see him with his head wreathed in flames of the warp. He is
a graceful man who spends his free time working on his bike and worshipping
Slaanesh with all his will. Rathe was offered command of his own Great Company
by Asenathor for his skill on the battlefield, but Rathe declined, saying he
would gladly follow his friend, Dresden, but would not be a fit commander of
such a large force. Under Dresden’s command, he met Ashenal, a kindred spirit.
He was immediately taken with Ashenal’s fury and willingness to ride into the
thick of battle. Their friendship is one that surpasses brotherhood, as they are
nearly inseparable. Rathe is Dresden’s most trusted confidant, and Rathe is
content as such.
Captain Ashenal, Lord of Speed
118 Chaos Lieutenant – Mark of Slaanesh, Bike, Power Fist, Daemonic Visage,
Sonic Blaster, Frag Grenades
Ashenal is as much Rathe’s equal in physical prowess as he is his mirror in
demeanor. Where Rathe prefers a graceful approach with the power sword, Ashenal
enjoys a brutal assault with a power fist. One thing they share is their love of
speed and killing, and this in turn grew into a love of one another. Each tries
to out do the other on the battle field, and is pleased when they find
themselves amid the bodies of the slain. They are constantly in the bike hangar,
working on their bikes and their battle strategies. It is rumored that Rathe has
turned down command of his own Great Company multiple times to remain in the
same Bike Company with Ashenal, and Ashenal would do the same for Rathe.
Sorcerers – Selph, Vasshas, Raan
This trio of Sorcerors have yet to be created, and may simply be side characters
with models made for story-purposes, but I like the idea of every lord having
his mystics. I'm going to base their personality traits from those of the main
characters from the game "The Bouncer". One will have tatoos and markings,
another with chains all over, and the third with piercings.
